Verse 1

| EStanding firm on this stony ground

The| CM7wind blows hard, pulls these clothes around

I | Aharbour all the same worries as most

The| FM7temptations to leave or to give up the ghost

| DI wrestle with an Bmoutlook on life

That| GM7shifts between darkness and shadowy light

I| F9struggle with words for fear that they'll hear

But| Gm7Orpheus sleeps on his Gm7/Fback, still dead to the world

|AM7--- ---- --- ----|AM7--- ---- --- ----|

Verse 2

| ESunlight falls, my wings open wide

There's a | CM7beauty here I cannot deny

And | Abottles that tumble and crash on the stairs

Are just | FM7so many people I knew never cared

| DDown below on the Bmwreck of the ship

Are a | GM7stronghold of pleasures I couldn't regret

But the | FM9baggage is swallowed up by the tide

As | Gm7Orpheus keeps to his Gm7/Fpromise and stays by my

| AM7side

Chorus

| FM7(#11)--- --- Tell me, | GI've still a lot to learn

| FM7(#11)Understand, | Gthese fires never stop

| FM7(#11)Believe me, | G when this joke is tired of laughing

Verse 3

| ESleepers sleep as we row the boat

Just | CM7you the weather and I gave up hope

But | Aall of the hurdles that fell in our laps

Was | FM7fuel for the fire and straw for our backs

| DStill the voices have Bmstories to tell

Of the | GM7power struggles in heaven and hell

But | F9we feel secure against such mighty dreams

As | Gm7Orpheus sings of the Gm7/Fpromise tomorrow may

| AM7bring
